COMPANY HISTORY

Steve Thompson, President of Thompson Auction Company, Inc., started in business in 1982 out of his garage. Starting an auction business is something you don't do overnight. It takes awhile.

During his college years at Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio, Steve met his wife. Her father-in-law was an avid auction buff, and took Steve to auctions on a regular basis. It was so intriguing to him that he enrolled in Reppert Auction School in Decatur, Indiana and graduated from there in the summer of 1979. After graduating from college in 1980, Steve went directly into the auction business and apprenticed with an auctioneer who introduced him to the Industrial side of the auction business. It was then that Steve knew where he wanted to go with the auction business.

After beginning his own business in 1982, he soon realized that you don't get into the business fast. It is a business that requires networking with Bankers, Bankruptcy Trustees, Machinery Dealers, etc. Steve began attending industrial auctions and buying and selling equipment and selling it out of his garage in order to make ends meet. In the mid to late 80's, The auction business took off, and as they say the rest is history.

Being in business is a lot of fun and hard work, but even more fulfilling is my family. God has blessed me with a wonderful wife and five children, three of whom have been adopted from Russia. What an adventure this continues to be.

Thompson Auction Company has grown and added full time people to set up, tag, catalogue and cashier the auctions. Our knowledgeable staff knows machinery and equipment and know how to market to the right audience of buyers. Our cashiers use a radio controlled, computerized system of clerking and cashiering that has brought a new level of expertise and professionalism to our business.

Our niche of Commercial and Industrial Auctions have led us to conducting auctions for Cincinnati Milacron, Tool & Die Shops, Machine Shops, Fabricating machinery, Woodworking Machinery, Food Service Auctions, such as Grocery Stores, Restaurants Food Processing Equipment. Other auctions include Roberds Furniture Stores, and a host of other types of Commercial and Industrial Auctions. We work for Banks & Lending Institutions, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Machinery Dealers, and owners of Business & Industry.

I know that you will be fully satisfied when you attend one of our Auctions.
